Too many child and adolescent psychiatrists will “give” your child a medication and leave you, the parent, feeling that more than medication is required.

Not many child and adolescent psychiatrists are interested in performing any type of therapy and couching or understanding all your child’s needs and shortcomings (and strengths).

Dr. Bolfek’s main and only goal is to treat your child (or you) as a whole person not just as a recipient of medications.

Dr. Anela Bolfek practices medicine in collaboration with other specialties. Regular communication with therapists, psychologists, pediatricians, primary care providers and other specialists is essential part of Dr. B’s practice.

Being a proud recipient of 4 Patients’ Choice Awards in last 5 years and recipient of Compassionate Doctor Recognition in 2012 and 2013 is another way to show Dr. Bolfek’s determination to provide the best possible care for her patients.
(“PatientsChoice.org was created to showcase the best doctors in your area who have been recognized and awarded for outstanding patient care and expertise. Only doctors with the highest patient ratings earn the patients’ choice award”)

Dr. Bolfek has been practicing psychiatry in the Boston area for over 10 years and have been in medical field for 20 years with extensive experience in treating all mental health problems in children, adolescent and adults with particular expertise and interest in ADHD, ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders: Asperger’s, PDD NOS), Anxiety and Mood related problems.

Prior to moving to Boston Dr. Bolfek was involved in research with children diagnosed with ADHD and children diagnosed with Autistic Disorder (Asperger’s and PDD NOS) in the ADHD Clinic, Training and Research Institute at The Scarborough General Hospital one of the teaching hospitals of the University of Toronto in Canada.
Was on staff of the Bressler Clinical and Research Program for Autism Spectrum Disorders, Massachusetts General Hospital and MGH Clinical and Research Programs in Pediatric Psychopharmacology and Adult ADHD Massachusetts General Hospital.

After performing in-depth evaluation, Dr. Bolfek will help you understand your child and your child needs. Appropriate treatment modality will be offered to prevent the consequences of any childhood stressors.
If a child or adult is not performing at their potential or struggles to meet daily demands, Dr. Bolfek’s highly specialized and personalized assessment and individualized treatment is likely to help.

During the treatment process patients will have a chance to understand their own strengths and challenges, to learn new habits and skills and will gain necessary tools to help them thrive.
If medication is recommended to be a part of the treatment, cautious and slow approach is used accompanied with detailed education about medication’s positive and negative effects.
